We present IC Pack, the package manager for installing apps into ICP blockchain.

Want to be graphical? Here is the pitchdeck.

So, the idea of IC package manager “IC Pack”: It is a software similar to Google Play or Linux package managers that allows user to install (into the user’s subnet) copies of IC software.

This is the first package manager for fully on-chain apps. This is expected to grow as big as Linux.

Its advantages:

  • User sovereignty over user’s software (only the user can update his software to a new (potentially harmful) version, not the dev or a DAO).
  • Much greater speed by putting all possible inter-operating user’s soft into the same ICP subnet.
  • Manage software easily, like Google Play.
  • User can make choice which soft to install (like of choice between several email clients).
  • User can manage permissions of which software can call which, among other avoiding “deadlock” of another app, when a software executes infinitely long.

See the specification for IC Pack.
